Consistency is the key, but what does it open?

I’m sure we’ve all heard this so many times over that one would think that it’s to be see as an unwritten rule of the modern day universe. Yet, so many hear it and don’t head its message. Consistency is key. It’s kind of boring and vague. Although 100% accurate.

Consistency is the key that will open the door to whatever you’re pursing. There, I fixed it to add a little more context.

If you want to achieve something, the magic ingredient most tend to forget is consistency. That means continuous effort that’s honed in and focused on the goal at hand.

It means listening to feedback, making adjustments, recalibrating, taking breaks and even revisiting motivation all while consciously making the effort to move in the direction of the goal you’ve set your sights on.

The tricky part is to minimize distractions and not go off on a wild goose chase because something easier was discovered during your pursuits. Although, sometimes that little discovery of something unexpected could end up being better than the initial goal itself.

Which is why constant feedback and evaluation of your direction is important. To reassess your timeline to achieve the goal should be the most flexible part of your pursuit. To be willing to set your goal aside, all while still working towards it. Maybe not directly but indirectly.

Keeping it in the back of your mind because you see that forcing something to happen when conditions aren’t right is acting through ones ego. Accepting that we can’t control everything and part of being consistent boils down to the fact that it actually takes consistency to achieve something. Because if everything was easily obtained because it’s desired then there would be no reason for the saying “consistency is key” to ever exist.

It’s as if it’s a cheat code, a little reminder to keep in the back of your thoughts when facing adversity. To expand on what consistency actually is, and not see it as one dimensional. To not view it as a relentless pursuit to obtain something, but a continuous nudge in the direction you’re wanting to go.

Making continuous effort in the direction of your goals while understanding that it may not happen on your timeline, yet it very well will happen if you keep showing up. Because one day there will be a little opening in the glass ceiling that has always held you back, and because you kept showing up, you’ll push right on through.

Onto a new level, onto one that brings you that much closer to your goal. And that consistency to keep showing up was the key to unlocked what was holding you back.
