Discovering Yourself In A Lost World
At times you may find ourself overwhelmed, others, at peace. In the end it’s all confusing. It’s as if you’re lost in an unknown world with confusion of what to do.
One minute you want so badly to get back to where you were, the next you find yourself comfortable where you are. That’s the continuous, internal struggle you are faced with every day. Do I stay and build a new life or do I try to get back where I was.
Your attempts are sporadic with unmotivated effort. Mainly because you don’t know what you want or why you want it in the first place. Your entire world is turned upside down. Eventually you find the good in the confusion. It challenges you to dig deep for meaning, purpose and direction.
You get lost in the process and time passes. You adjust to a new way of living and have your sights set on yourself, instead of what’s around you. You discover who you are and what makes you happy.
Soon you find more peace in this new world with less distractions, less pressure and less people. Over time you feel your confidence restoring. You feel ready to take on a challenge, you want to prove something to yourself, your NEW self. Only you see through all the meaningless steps and achievements. You question why even try if the end goal is to arrive where you already are. You find yourself unmotivated, yet content. You’re even more confused because it takes a lot more to get you motivated than it use to.
Time is a constant thought. More so the thought of time wasted being unsure. You wonder if that’s part of the process. The process where being lost is the part of the journey that you have to make it through to make it to the other side.
You’re so much more connected to yourself that it’s almost a distraction. You’re very aware of what makes you happy, what brings you joy and what challenges you. You become selfish and protective of your peace. Mainly because you’ve lost it so many times before, and now that you have it you want to protect it at all costs.
Overtime you learn how to balance isolation while incorporating others in your world. You’re more selective of who gets your time and energy. You’re also far more appreciative of the good in the world and the good in others.
You feel enriched by the positivity of others and contribute to them just as they do you. Intentionally and unintentionally. You realize that the connections you are establishing are based on who you are, not what you have or have achieved. It’s more so about HOW you bring what you bring to the table.
Removing stress and pressure from your life feels like you’re peeling away layers of wet blankets from atop of you. Each layer you feel lighter, refreshed and strong. It’s as is you’re finally peeling back all the pressure that was needed to get you to where you are. You withstood the weight of the pressure and learned how to remove it instead of only applying it.
Your confidence starts to rise again. You feel as if you don’t have to pick a specific goal to achieve. You feel as if as long as you are making progress and applying your best self moving forward that the goals will arrive. You approach challenges as they come, not before they arrive. You find peace in the presence and enjoyment in the process.
It’s almost as if you wondered through this lost world and found an opening that reconnects you to the one you came from. Instead of trying to get out of the new world you can now choose to enjoy both. The world you thought you lost is still there only now you get to decide how you want to go about living.
You decide that inner peace and the pursuit of the best version of yourself are what brings you the most joy and fulfillment. You embrace challenges as they come, and focus on making smart decisions in the moment. You don’t project your happiness outside of yourself or only once you have obtained a certain thing or accomplished a certain feat.
You feel joy where you are and carry it with you. Being grateful for what you have and also what you don’t have. You’re content while also motivated. You’re advancing at your own pace and proud of your progress.
You feel more connected to yourself than you ever have before and for the first time in a very long time you are comfortable in not knowing what the future holds, only that you know you’ll be ready to embrace it as it arrives.
